The Banana Hammock Arts
This collection of artwork spans from 2009 to present. This is an invitation into my
manic perception.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My Manic Perception
The spontaneity of my art work roots deeply within a fragile emotional state of instability. I reside in painting as a therapeutic approach to process these episodes of disorder; grounding fluttering emotions through all the turbulence to settle in peace.
I have found that tackling head on, the dimly lit spaces casted by strong depressive states often leads to dissatisfaction. I am unable to work around them through external methods of healing alone. I view these efforts similarly to works created with a direct intention. They lack passionate integrity. From an inspirational curiosity, I may catch a glimpse of abstract expression.
Discovering comfort inside the process of painting attracts me inward to the raw expressions I attempt to convey. I also find great satisfaction when I paint to explore a dormant thought. The inquires that arise can carry its conception into a blossoming story. This process unfolds itself for me to see what my mind was letting go of.
From a young age, all I knew was that I wanted to express my creativity. Working both independently and on commissioned projects, I slowly became aware of my passion for visual storytelling.
I view this passion as a continuous learning experience that expands with every new endeavor I take on. My work is quirky, odd, colorful and carefully cultured.
I like to to call it cluterful at times.

The Grand Gesture Series
The series of mixed media paintings were created during the fall of 2022. After exiting the fawning relationship with an excessive gift giver, I wanted to explore the idea of flattery by frivolously tossing rich glimmering colors into an untamed atmosphere, with hopes to capture a chaotic processing of thoes times. The series expresses its beauty in wisps of gold, silver, yellows and whites within an emptiness of deep blacks, or soft pinks and even exploring the mirror as a playground of self reflection. The shapes and forms create a stunning space to let the mind wander...
